From 19th century zoetropes to Saturday Night Fever, our short animation, Grand Classics film tells the history of moving image – placing Motorola in its future.
As sponsor of The Grand Classics Film Festival, which features filmmakers and actors introducing the films that inspired them, Motorola wanted to reinforce their passion for cinema and mobile video with a greater presence.
Referencing classic movies such as Citizen Kane, The Great Escape and Tron, we commissioned Grand Classics to show a bunny character evolving from a charcoal sketch to a full-colour rendering, a process that concludes with the character watching itself on a 3G Motorola handset. A deft nod to the company’s passion for the classics as well as showing that its technology is putting the means to create film clips into the hands of consumers.
The short but compelling film won a BAFTA and generated widespread media attention.
