In 2005 the creative industries were booming like never before. So back then, we posed the question: what will life be like in 10 years time if creativity continues to prosper at such a rate? It led us to producing the first user's guide to Britain’s creative future.
Designed to generate debate amongst industry influencers, Creative World brought together some of the best designers, writers and commentators to imagine a future in which knowledge and creativity drive the British economy. Drawing on trends in media, education, working culture and branding, our illustrated book flashed forward 10 years – to now modern day – to follow a typical family to work, to school, to the shops and even to church. It offered insights into changes taking place in our lives today and into a new world in which every aspect of our work, rest and play would be revolutionized.
Predictions included the following description of what we thought a 2015 street would look like: ‘the man in the yellow shirt is pointing his mobile communication device at the bus stop to download information about local transport in the area.’ Pleasingly precise, we hope you’ll agree.
The book was a hit with the media, with features ranging from a slot on TV to a review in the FT.
