Art of the Compliment
While working with Dove in 2013 we wanted to create authentic Facebook content that could resonate with consumers on an emotional level. We wanted to do it by teaming up with like-minded people who were relevant for the brand.
Enter: Canadian cartoonist Cathy Thorne. We’d seen her work (she’s well known for her Everyday People series) and thought her style and tone – full of rich insights on motherhood, relationships, health, beauty and well-being – was perfect for Dove (and for NAS).
So we contacted her and proposed an idea – The Art of the Compliment: a series based on the struggle that many women have with compliments, and all the ways we give, reject, avoid and accept them. The result? A fun, light-hearted series that perfectly captures all of the awkwardness and embarrassment that responding to or giving compliments can cause, but in a humorous, relatable and thought-provoking way.
It’s easy to see why they were Dove’s best performing Facebook posts that year.
